New Side Project and Latest News
Hey Hey!
So I have been extremely busy with day job and a few new projects.
I finally got myself on a DEV team for a game company, which I'm excited to be apart of.
But I can't really give you too many details on that just yet. But once I get the go ahead, I will fill you in. I while back the idea for Norse Realms to be made on the Realm Crafter engine that CCGames got awhile back as been dead and gone. So what I'm going to do, is make a very simple, basic, generic project with the engine. And build from that. As of right now, this will just be a design project; I will be starting off on my own. This way it won’t complicate anything with design, and planning, and overwhelming and eventually lost of project.
Here's the concept:
Name: Beanfarmer Online
Overview: Beanfarmer MMO? You must be kidding right? No, I'm not kidding.
I got the idea with a mix between Bohnanza board game and that blockbuster commercial that had a copy of beanfarmer on the shelve, as a joke cause the store didn’t have any game selection. I know that the idea of bean farming doesn’t sound that appealing to a Online RPG. But its a unique, simplistic concept and game play. And hopefully the combination of both will be appealing to the players.
Game Play:
Player starts out in a starting Hamlet of a town. Characters are peasants that are trying to make a living. But due to the poverty stricken country, the whole option for them is to become bean farmers. Thus players start their journey to become the country sides most well renowned Bean farmer!
There will be an array of beans for players to collect; common beans, uncommon beans, rare beans, and magic beans. In later stages of the game, there will be a attributes and effects that the rare and magic beans will produce. But right now, the goal of the game is to collect the most beans. Cause Beans = Power!
Players can collect beans from; creatures, quests, collecting, and eventually farming. The first builds of the game are going to be very simple. Only way to collect beans is by finding beans on the map, then creature drops, then quests, then farming. Remember I want to keep design very simple, so I don't get myself to ahead of myself.
Weapons and Armor?
You’re a peasant, there really isn’t much weapons and armor you can afford and manage to use.
Weapons: Farming tools and Simple Items.
Club - simple heavy sticks that can be found on the ground in the woods.
Staff - Simple long tree branches
Pitch fork - were made of wood with two or three ironed prongs.
Hand Sickle - Small curved bladed tool, used for harvesting wheat.
Rake - Two handed weapon, this tool was primarily used for collecting grass.
Spade - also known as a shovel.
Axe - Used for lumberjacking, will make for a nice weapon for the countryside.
Armor:
Cloth Rags - Starting gear for the peasants mostly made of wool.
Fine Cotton Clothes – from rags to britches, cheap but presentable clothes.
Simple Leather – basic form of refined leather pieces, which are woven into apparel.
Conclusion :
I have many ideas on where I want to take Beanfarmer in its later stages, but right now, I just want to get the first release out within the next 2 months.
Goals for first release:
Terrain: 1 Area – made of a Field, wooden area, and a few huts.
Creatures: Handful of simple enemies for the players to slay to collect beans.
Items: Cloth Rags, and 1 weapon, and beans.
